The hugely false front of autism is the result of 70 years of one tragic fact added to another and another, and, as a Supreme Court Justice recently remarked, “tragic facts make bad law.”
 
Seventy years of bad science, bad laws, and bad public policies cascading down the decades have led us to where we are today: the steadily rising tragedy of and 1 in 80 boys (1 in 150 children) diagnosed with autism, with no end in sight to the epidemic.  
 
The story begins in the 1940s when the cause of autism was hypothesized to be psychological (mothers unable to bond with their children). Generations of mothers were blamed before the “refrigerator” mom theory was finally put to rest. Autism, however, still remains largely captive to the self-limiting approach that denies basic medical research.
