Hunter has been with for a month now and I honestly have to say that I am so happy to these these two bonding. Aidan has really hit a level of maturity and is doing quite well these days./ Things feel much easier. I am not sure if they are or if Hunter has just really helped to bring the levels of chaos and tension down. I would like to think it is the power of having the dog here.
Today we did more training with Autism Dog Services http://autismdogservices.ca/ http://sites.google.com/site/autismdogservices/Home and we visited common areas that we always frequent. Today we visited Harrison Park in Owen Sound,. Ontario and we have not been there since the day Aidan was diagnosed 4 years ago. We all enjoyed a nice walk and I was able to take some amazing photos today.
We have all enjoyed having Hunter come to stay with us, and I am very happy that we embarked upon animal therapy for Aidan to help him cope with various traits with Autism that make everyday things difficult for him. Both are found close to each other, unless either are asleep.
Hunter has proved to be great for me too. He is always close by my side and has been such a blessing. I was worried at first that I might be taking too much on... was I really prepared to care for something else? The first few days here full time made it easy to see that Aidan and Hunter were bonding very well and our personalities all matched so well with Hunter, that he became comfortable very fast... (trust me we have the various on the big bed sleeping, various and assorted chewed stuffed animals and our fair share stock in the Milk Bone company...lol)
This is my favorite picture of Aidan and Hunter. The joy of getting an autism service dog has simply made our days more enjoyable and safer. Aidan is happier and so am I.
