2 Most Awesome Things to Happen in The US This Year (Thus far)

I’m not much of a political aficionado, but I do know what policies I like and don’t like.
If you’ve been reading for a while, you may remember a few posts I made last fall about Music Therapy, Politics, and South Carolina. In them, I described our quest for a Music Therapy License here in South Carolina that would grant our profession recognition, but also help protect you, the consumer, from potential harm.
Obviously, from my support of this bill, I am in favor of some government oversight in professions that could potentially cause harm (and yes, music can cause harm. Perhaps a blog post on that later).
That is why it is with pleasure that I let you know of the 2 most awesome things to
happen in the US thus far this year.
1) North Dakota created the first ever Music Therapy License with the passage of their SB 2271. Their Bill was signed into law by their Governor on April 26, 2011.
2 ) Nevada created the second ever Music Therapy License with the passage of SB 190. Their bill was signed into law by their Governor on June 3, 2011.
I am so excited to be able to say that there are now 2 music therapy licenses in the country and so proud of North Dakota and Nevada doing it first so that other states will hopefully follow suit. Congratulations on all your hard work!
