Our son is almost 4. His weight is approx. 35 lbs. In the past, we have been prescribed prediapred, prednisone, or prednisolon. Just recently, we had him in the ER with a very scarey asthma attack associated with a cold. He was prescribed prednisolon. When we got the script home, it was a pink/red translucent color and smelled terrible of alcohol and cherry. He will not take it. Even if we mix it with apple juice or other juices... the alcohol taste is just horrible. He ends up spitting or gagging it back up.
Before this last prednisolon script... we always received a CLEAR, almost tasteless medicine from the pharmacy...I remember being able to give it to him straight, and he had no problems taking it...and it was called prednisolon. We just do not know which manufacturer produces this item. I called 2 pharmacies, and neither have a clear prednisolon on hand... is this something that is still produced??
