Pregnancy and Asthma

Posted Jan 18 2009 11:29pm

I am an only child of an asthmatic mother. I am also lucky to had been born healthy and safety around 38 years ago. My mom has had asthma since her 17th birthday, and at those years (1960s) asthma was one of the most dangerous diseases. When my mom had decided to pregnant, her doctor warned her to keep maintaining her health until laboring time.

The time of laboring was both an unforgettable time for both my parents, and also a scarying moment. Pregnancy and laboring were dangerous things for an asthmatic woman at that time, the chance is about fifty percent if the mom-to-be has severe asthma during laboring. That is why after my safe birth, my parents did not want to risk another pregnancy in asthma condition.

However, nowadays, sciences have been increasing in many sectors, including pregnancy and asthma. Although more people suffering from asthma, pregnancy and laboring of an asthmatic women have been much safer today. To ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy in asthma condition, a routine check ups is what you must pay attention to.
