Identity Theft

Posted Sep 14 2008 3:37pm

This will be my last post about asthma for awhile, as I continue to improve. Although asthma affects me, it doesn't define me and there are so many other things in life that bring me joy; science experiements, Christmas Cookies, see-through Chihuahuas...

These past few days have been a real challenge for me and since I only get this sick a couple times a year, it never really solidifies for me.... it must always be dealt with anew. I think the thing that is hardest to deal with in a chronic disease like asthma is that is steals your identity... the things that you believe about yourself; I'm reliable, I'm a hard worker, I'm physically able to do what I like... These things become I'm breathless, dizzy and wheezing... can I make dinner? I've made peace with it (mostly) but I hate losing that sense of control, that sense of self and not being in control is reason enough at times to go on a rant. As is jepardizing how other's may see me. It's tempting to minimize asthma at times, particularly professionally as no one wants to appear less than competent to the masses.

Moving on, I'm working on figuring out where I am with my holiday plans. So far, I think I'm only missing one present and just need one brief trip to the mall and then done. Plan and buy Christmas dinner plus more cookie makings and then I am in the home stretch. Thank goodness I got as much done as possible earlier in the month.

Finally, I'm still disappointed regarding the family photo shoot. I had hoped to be printing copies and putting them in frames at this point, but it looks like I'm a little behind. Hopefully I can get a reshoot this weekend and catch up. In the meantime, I thought I'd close with see-through Chihuahuas who run in front of the camera while I have it on the wrong setting!

Nothing to do but laugh at these! Gosh I hope I get better at this soon!
