Today is Julia’s birthday. Julia is turning 7 years old. Happy Birthday, Julia. Julia and her family were featured inthis story.
I have to admit, I have a soft spot for children and their families who are struggling with debilitating disorders. And I admire the fighting spirit that children seem to universally possess. I got into this field when my father was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease). I believe dealing with a father’s disease could not compare to that of your child’s.
Julia is going to participate in the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago’s 2008 Hike for Lung Health. She has set a fundraising goal and I want to help her reach that goal. If each person who reads this article would donate $10.00 toJulia’s effortalong with $10.00 tochILD Foundation, you would be doing so much more than that for her and her family’s spirit.

As many of you know our daughter Julia has a rare lung disease named Children’sInterstitial Lung Diseaseor ‘chILD”. To learn more about chILD visit the foundation’s website atchILD Foundation. We need your help in raising money for chILD and other lung diseases as well as educating people. We are helping to make a difference by participating in this year’s 2008 Hike For Lung Health! Julia will be doing a one mile walk around the Sulphur High School track before one of the upcoming home football games. (Date to be announced).
The money we raise will help to promote healthy lungs and fight lung disease through research, advocacy, and education.
Can we count on your support to assist us in Julia’s fundraising efforts? Thank you for your support as Julia challenges herself not only in participating but also by raising money for this very worthwhile cause.
