Watching cross-country skiing in the olympics takes me back to when I was an eight-year old ski racer. Wanna talk about lung burn? My mom was eager to have me follow in her footsteps but I was not very fast and did not enjoy it very much at all. I’m sure my undiagnosed, and later under-treated asthma didn’t help in that regard. Although most people I know who ski raced when they were kids didn’t like it that much; I think it’s one of those things most people can only appreciate when they are older, kind of like mushrooms.
