I receive the Harvard Mental Health Letter and I learned some interesting information about the prevelance of mental health problems from a study in 2005 done by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. It said that mental health problems (depression, anxiety, etc) were found to be the top reason Americans sought medical treatment.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has started a long overdue campaign to get pediatricians to detect mental health problems in children in their early years. This is something that I have long advocated and about which I feel very strongly. the AAP notes that there are fourteen million children with some kind of mental health problem
