That about sums up yesterday’s run. Hill repeats on what is quickly becoming my least favorite place in Southern California – the hill on San Joaquin Hills Road from the back bay to Jamboree. 120 feet up in 1/4 mile. As any good RT knows, not all wheezing is associated with asthma but this knowlege that we have about wheezing has not been disseminated to all the masses that walk the halls of a hospital. I know for myself that I do attempt to educatate nurses about the different types of things that can cause wheezing, for example congestive heart failure

thick rhonchi noises, squeaky musical wheezes. They each tell us a story. The worst lung sound to hear? silence. Not the familar woosh of air moving in and out that says clear.... She gets an Albuterol/Atrovent tx and 125mg solumedrol IV. By the time she got to the ER she was wheezing everywhere.
I guess my point to this is that not all wheezing is bad

The FDA recalled certain lots of Albuterol 0.083% nebulizer solution that comes in 3 ml vials. The concentration on the packaging is mislabelled. Consumers should return any unused portion to where the medication was purchased. Check the link for full details.
