Alive and Well by Susie Patient Expert Posted Fri 03 Jul 2009 1:36pm We've made it back home! We left Pennsylvania at about 10:30 on Wednesday morning and made our way to Dulles Int'l (Washington DC) where wer got to SIT for 4 hours waiting for our plane. Our first flight got moved up an hour (what? why EARLY?) and our second flight was an hour late, making that stop much longer than anticipated. Oceana was already ... Read on »
The Purple Tongue by meredith Patient Expert Posted Tue 10 Nov 2009 10:02pm Yes, it's from Gentian Violet because Lynae has thrush. Unfortunately, when she gets a little around her lips and on her sweet pink lips... she then looks... blue in the mouth. AKA: dead. Not ... Read on »
An alternative trend by Women's Work Patient Expert Posted Sun 14 Sep 2008 1:27pm I've been trying to figure out whom to credit -- or alternatively, blame, depending on the situation or my level of anxiety surrounding said situation. You see, I'm not sure how or when it started, really, but when it comes to health care I have found myself trending more toward the "alternative" than the " allopathic." Sometimes its an easy de ... Post Op by Azaera Posted Thu 13 Oct 2011 12:00am The surgery went well, although when we were in the pre-op room Skyler was hugging his daddy and he said "I'm scared" which threw us both off guard. I admit I shed a couple tears when they took him in to operate on him. When he woke up he was pretty cranky (understandably so) and they had warned us at the pre-op clinic that he would be very clin ... Read on »

Winding down by Susie Patient Expert Posted Mon 29 Jun 2009 4:04pm Our time here in Pennsylvania is coming to a close. It's been a great time. We've had the chance to visit family and friends, and even went to a Sams Family Reunion. We've done BBQs and eaten out. We've been sunburned (me and Matt, not the girls) and bitten by bugs (probably just me). We've been to the doctor (me and Naomi) and we've opted for natu ... Read on »
The Purple People Eater by Stephanie B. Patient Expert Posted Tue 27 Jan 2009 6:30pm Aiden went to see Dr. Pediatrician this morning for the spots in his mouth. And it is thrush. She gave us two options for treatment - Nystatin or "Painting him purple." Nystatin is 2mL 4 times a day with a syringe. That isn't going to happen. Aiden HATES syringes. So, I asked how quickly the other stuff worked. Dr. Pediatrician said it wo ... Read on »

You're Turning Violet, Violet! by jennybeanjcb Posted Wed 17 Dec 2008 12:00am So... I had the opportunity, now that I'm home in Denver to go see my FABULOUS hair stylist Travis. I wanted to do something fun and funky because I am my own boss, and don't have to deal with corporate bullshit dictating what I can and can't wear, what piercings or tattoos I have, or what color my hair is. The result? A kickass mix of blac ... Read on »
