Upper Body Hypertrophy Workout

Here is the hypertrophy workout I did today. Saturdays I focus on the horizontal plane (bench press and row) so Tuesdays I focus on training the vertical plane. Pairing... geared more for max strength.
In this workout I am using the blast straps in my hands, but they are very versatile and great for training the "core", or stomach as I call it!

Friday's post talked about the importance of a strong upper body for runners, especially as we age. The post gave a workout for the core and today I have a workout for the upper-body (arms, chest, and back).
As a runner, the focus of the upper-body workout should be to gain muscular endurance. So, go with lighter weights and higher repetitions

a kettlebell workout I figured it would be helpful to post some of my workouts here.
Monday I did an upper body strength kettlebell workout. The goal of the workout was to improve total upper body strength through the use of the clean and press and clean and jerk. Here is the workout straight out of my training journal done with a pair of 24 kg kettlebells

We had about 6 inches of snow last night, but due to wind blowing the snow, I had about a foot to shovel off my driveway and sidewalks. By the time I started my "upper body" workout, it was 10 am and the temperature was about 44 (F). Because of the warm temperature, the snow was melting and heavy. Hey party people, here is the workout I did to hit my upper body. Today's focus was vertical push pull.
clean and press 10 x 3-5, I used a strongman log because I am getting ready for a contest, but use whatever you want like kettlebells, dumbells, a barbell or even a sandbag!
