in a full fledged racing butterfly stroke ~ I just can't help myself! Muscle memory is a powerful thing ~ I don't know if I will ever completely understand it ~ but I love swimming the butterfly stroke and it's permanently emblazoned in my memory. It is probably the most complicated and physically demanding stroke to swim.

I think I'm swimming in my sleep now. The little sleep I'm getting, that is. Last night's training swim took me an hour and 20 minutes to complete. Back and forth and back and forth and back and repeat. This morning in our coach's weekly email we were told that we should register for the 1 mile swim at the Aqua Challenge at Lake Del Valle

Today I got up and went to the gym to begin my new swim routine.
I picked up a great new bathing suit at TJ Maxx the other day. A Nike for just $20! It worked perfectly. I did half an hour.
I forgot how much I love to swim, and can you believe it is a great calorie burner? Not only that but after the brutality of running on my ankles, legs

We roll merrily along as usual. Micah's birthday party has morphed - I got him to narrow his list to about 11 other kids, and I found a decently affordable magician, so we are having it at home. If he really really wants a pinata, it'll be out in the driveway, hanging from the bedroom window. No more dents in my walls, please.

I do swim quite a bit these days. But no way Near what I swam for yardage each week in HS or college. It makes a difference.
You get.... I had shoulder surgery 2 years ago for a torn rotator cuff and therefore have not been swimming butterfly...until about a month ago. I would do a 25 here or there after 1 yr

Freestyle – Is the fastest and most efficient swimming technique
Backstroke – Is the only stroke that is swum on the back, the swimmer looking up
Butterfly – Is powerful, graceful and fast
Breaststroke – Is one of the easiest and most relaxing strokes

doing longer swims.
Switch strokes. Try switching strokes every few laps. If you're used to freestyle, try breaststroke, butterfly or backstroke.
Use flippers. Occasionally...Join a Masters Team. Most communities have a ‘Masters' team for adults who want to improve their swimming skills. You don't have to be a ‘master' to join!
