group in Bowie-Crofton (Maryland) that has been a very successful support group for about 20 years. It was (and still is) a large group with a newsletter, lending library, interesting guest speakers, holiday parties, and nice people to talk to. group or support system doesn’t work just because there are a lot of people involved. They work when the person seeking support emotionally buys into them. A group... support to you. To believe that a group offers genuinine support for you there are 4 things you must come to believe:

I've been part of an MS Caregivers Support Group for ~3 years. It meets monthly, and I make a point of going unless I have an unavoidable conflict. There are usually about 4-5... who have never been caregivers.
That's how I feel about the group. Skip and I have understanding and supportive friends whose company and friendship we need in our lives
