Stem cell “therapy” for autism in the Philippines?

One would think so from the title of the story in a Philippine website: “ Stem Cell Therapy: Cure For Autism? ” I worried, has another overseas location started in the stem cell “therapy ” businesses?
Apparently not. The story is about a Philippine family, but the Clinic is in Germany and the stem cells are fetal lamb cells.

A recent news article focused on autism researchers who are also autism parents. One of the researchers in Autism scientists search for help, for their own kids’ sakes is Ricardo Dolmetsch , whose work on stem cells and autism was one of the highlights of IMFAR 2011 and was a focus of NIMH director Tom Insel.

There are many unproven therapies being used by alternative medicine practitioners on autistic kids. One newer “therapy” is the use of stem cells.
I have yet to see even a good explanation of why stem cells should work. Not even a fully thought out bad reason. And, yet, kids are being “treated” with stem cells. ...
