There is an new paper(pdf) on saturatedfat that is open access. It's a good review of how the views on saturatedfat are changing.
It starts by pointing out that breast milk contains 50% of the total fat as saturatedfat. This is an evolutionary clue of sorts, along with an existing mechanism that converts saturatedfat to monosaturated

I know that unsaturated fats are very good for us. I know that trans fats should be avoided at all costs. I know that saturatedfat isn’t so hot for us, but I’m not sure to what degree.
Although there is a certain percentage of daily intake allowance for saturatedfat, should one try to limit that as close to zero as possible?

The familiar saturatedfat is embedded in most of our favorite foods such us
whole milk, butter, cheese and ice cream
red meat
chocolate
coconuts, coconut milk and coconut oil.
We are aware that these foods are unhealthy but yet cannot bear to stay away from. These fats raises both LDL (bad) and HDL (good).
