Week Six, Day Four: 40 Minute Swim + 1hr 19 Minute Run (8.46 Miles) by Jeff Irvin Patient Expert Posted Thu 21 Jan 2010 7:47pm the 30-35 mile mark and I hit that today and the shoes are now just glorious to run in! I put that poll up on top a little bit ago because I am unsure of how to spend my Saturday.  I found a 5k race over in The Woodlands, which is about 15-20 minutes from me at 8am.  I really want to run a 5k at a full out effort just to see what I can do.  But if I do Read on »

Enjoy! So now that you've seen our corner of the world, I'm wondering:  What does your region look like... by the way, took a little longer than 60 minutes, but guess what - I did the entire 6.3 miles with only one 30-second walk in mile #2.  Woo Hoo!  What a difference temp/humidity really Read on »
How many running miles is 10 minutes of unicycling? by Perry R. Patient ExpertHealth Maven Posted Thu 18 Jun 2009 12:20am Today. my training schedule called for a 4 mile run. Instead I spent my lunch hour playing volleyball and my after-work workout playing basketball. Of course I spent some of my exercise time also juggling but no joggling. I’m getting pretty good at keeping 3 balls going using only one hand. Unfortunately, I’m [...] Filed under: Joggling Read on »
1/2 Marathon Training: 50 Minute Run (5.21 Miles) by Jeff Irvin Patient Expert Posted Wed 23 Sep 2009 10:41pm of the temperature. I did 5.21 miles in the planned 50 minute run and this was supposed to be the "easy run" day. So my easy pace is like 9:40/mile now! I easily could have knocked another minute or so off that pace and will do that on the next moderate run day. My heart rate did not get above 148 bpm for the entire run!! Tomorrow is supposed to be a cross Read on »
What it feels like to run under a 7-minute-mile by Kevin L. Patient Expert Posted Wed 20 May 2009 11:11am to a graveyard. (Ironic, huh?) But I' m becoming a little more adapt at running and reading maps, and more important, these streets are starting to become more and more familiar.... The run felt good, really good. I never had to "fight" myself to keep my speed below a 7-minute-mile pace. I' d stop at a light or for water, and then I' d take off and I' d easily Read on »
P90X Hybrid Day 2: 45 Minutes Run (5 miles) by Jeff Irvin Patient Expert Posted Sun 09 Aug 2009 11:28pm today I ran 5 miles for 45 minutes. That breaks down to be 9:00 minute miles. My HR stayed in my target zone (131-168) for most of the running today and I burned over 600 calories... training goals. Now that I will be only running once or twice a week I am going to increase my mileage during each individual run. In the past I have trained by doing 3.1 miles Read on »
1/2 Marathon Training: 45 Minute Run (4.8 Miles) by Jeff Irvin Patient Expert Posted Mon 21 Sep 2009 10:34pm This morning was one of those rare mornings when I struggled immensely with my run. Usually, when I begin running it takes a mile or two until I get loose and find a zone... felt beat down and cannot wait until this weather has changed for good. Anyways, still got my work in for 45 minutes. It ended up being 4.8 miles. Here is the remaining 1/2 Read on »
P90X Hybrid Day 38: 40 Minute Run (4 miles) by Jeff Irvin Patient Expert Posted Mon 14 Sep 2009 10:30pm running seriously now for about 6 months and have always been a pretty decent athlete. When we do the longer runs we usually use my Garmin for pacing and stay around 10-10:30 miles/min. I am good with that because it is helping me with my aerobic base building. Well, today was supposes to be a moderate pace and with all the running I have been doing I Read on »
P90X Hybrid Day 33: 40 minute run (4 miles) by Jeff Irvin Patient Expert Posted Wed 09 Sep 2009 10:32pm Once again Annie and I got up at the crack of dawn to get in our run. We ran for 40 minutes around the neighborhood and ended up stopping right at 4 miles. Overall I really... been doing these double workouts and increasing my running mileage each week and it caught up to me. This week I am going to be doing 19 miles running so I decided to not push Read on »
Run 1, Week 4 (BBOHR): Just A Little Bit Further, or How Three Miles Can Turn Into Six ;-) by Corey I. Patient Expert Posted Sun 07 Sep 2008 12:14pm /mile pace. When I hit the 30 minute mark, (which was supposed to be the original endpoint of my run!), I was heading back home on the golf course path; I decided that since I... feeling pretty good. About 45 minutes in, I'd covered approximately 4 miles. The urge to keep running was strong. I kept telling myself, "Only 5 more minutes." So you can see Read on »
