Running Clinic: 5-Mile Track Workout by Corey I. Patient Expert Posted Thu 22 Jan 2009 3:57pm 1 Comment Went to our running clinic's 2nd week of track workout tonight. Did 1 mi warm-up, followed by 8x400 (at threshold pace), with each 400 of speed work followed by a recovery lap (another 8x400). So all in all, I did 5 mi. :) Today I noticed that I was running a lot faster than my assigned pace group (10:30), without really intending to do so. For ... Read on »
Running 100 miles on 4 miles per day training runs. by Ken C. Patient Expert Posted Fri 23 Jan 2009 5:05pm Lately, I have almost given my running a back seat. Oh, I still get a run in 5 days a week, but 4-5 miles is all I have been getting per day. I fear my overall endurance has slid off a little, but I am knocking off these 4 milers like they were nothing. Makes me wonder if I would do well in a 5K. (SLAP ME!!) That's how I ended up with some pesky sh ... Read on »

I ran .83 miles during my 1.5 mile run/walk by Allen Patient ExpertHealth Maven Posted Wed 03 Jun 2009 10:20am Today I used my GPS to measure the distance I ran, and the number is 0.83 miles or 55% of the run. That is the most I've run during my recovery from the blood clots that attacked me in January. That number shows that my gut-feel estimates of 50% that I've been making are pretty close to the real value. I could tell that I was doing a bit more runni ... Read on »
Tuesday run (4miles) and Thursday Fast walk little run (3miles, 45 mins) by BaddApple .. Patient Expert Posted Thu 15 Sep 2011 9:44pm I forgot to post Tuesday Run. 4 miles 48:49 http://j.mp/nTLZvB. Yes I actually ran outside. I could really feel the difference in my knees running on the road after running on a treadmill. Nice to be outside, but my performance sucked. Wednesday was a rest day and my legs needed it after my first run in a long while. It felt good to actually r ... Read on »
Training Update Week 33: Wherein I conquer a twenty mile long run, the common cold and set a new PR for the mile. by JayDub R. Posted Thu 19 Aug 2010 12:00am The Cross Training I'm starting to really love swimming. This was the perfect way to end a hard working week last Friday. I mixed up some freestyle and breaststroke with some backstroke kicking. I covered 1000m in 28 minutes. This was the first time I've used my stopwatch while swimming and this had the effect of stopping me from linge ... Read on »
Half Truths (Walk a Mile/Run a Mile…It’s All the Same) by Tony G. Healthy Living Professional Posted Thu 14 Aug 2008 10:05am Earlier in the week I wrote about stuff that I feel is overrated . I alluded to something that I feel gets mentioned quite a bit in the fitness community, and that I feel needs some sort of clarification. Namely, I’m referring to the notion that it doesn’t matter if someone walks a mile or runs a mile, you’ll still burn 100 calories; or 80, or ... Read on »
Added a quarter mile to give me 3 miles for my run by Allen Patient ExpertHealth Maven Posted Mon 26 Oct 2009 11:02pm I started my run about 11 am this morning. The temperature was 25 (F) last night, and the air was still cold during my run, even though the temperature in the sun was 50 (F). I was glad I wore my nylon windbreaker. There were a number of runners and walkers on the path, and it was a beautiful day. My wakeup heart rate was 59 this morning. I fe ... Read on »
Added a half-mile to my mid-week run to give 7 miles by Allen Patient ExpertHealth Maven Posted Mon 17 Nov 2008 9:07pm I ran 7 miles on the Jordan River Parkway. I ran in the late afternoon, and it was a nice day for running. The temperature when I left home was 62 (F), and I was comfortable in my one-layer of a T-shirt and shorts. The sun was close to setting when I drove home, but it was still above the horizon and was shining in my eyes and making it hard to see ... Read on »
Week 7: Recap 20 Mile Run/Swim Class/37 Mile Bike by Tri to Be Funny Patient Expert Posted Fri 17 Apr 2009 12:31am This one is brief because I'm so behind!! Let me start off this blog with an apology to my friend Erine, who's training motives I questioned on Saturday night. You see, we were out with a few Gazelles eating Mexican food, drinking margaritas and following that up with Gelato (can you say gluttony??) and he was asking our opinion on whether o ... Read on »
