, coupled with our desire to have "typical" family adventures, we decided to go white water rafting. It's just a three mile run on the upper Hudson River, controlled by a dam. Small... the rapids and rafts making the journey. "Do you want to go down the river in one of those boats?" Answer, "Yes".

4.) The water was so cold when we were whitewater rafting it was like an ice bath for my legs!

A rafting trip will be considerably less scenic if you're paddling through polluted water. Rain washes everything from lawn fertilizers to used motor oil into stormwater drains , which often empty into the nearest river, lake, or bay. To protect rivers, keep these five things out of the drain:

We take the nieces and nephews sledding a little differently in Caratunk...turn it up, the sound is totally worth it.
