There are four signs which tell if Victoria Plums are ready to pick:
Twist the plum gently off the stem. The plum is ripe when it comes off easily. Plums usually leave their stalk on the tree.

The variety of plum called Marjorie’s Seedling (Latin name – Prunusdomestica ) is self fertile.

Large oval blue-black plums
Juicy yellow flesh
Heavy cropping, vigorous tree

It looks like a good year for plums after optimum weather conditions has produced an abundant crop. Trees are literally bursting at the branches with juicy plums as growers... up – just right for the plums.
Growers normally hope for a minimum of 1,000 chill hours throughout the winter, but this year they were rewarded with closer to 2,000.
