New York City’s calorie labeling proposal, which seemed to be heading for menu boards at the end of March, is now back in litigation thanks to the NY State Restaurant Association. CSPI filed an amicus curiae brief on the previous round of litigation and is working with Public Citizen on a new version. The saga continues.

Following New York City’s lead, California’s hotshot governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has just signed a ban on trans fats into law. It takes effect in 2010. I was pleased to see the article in last Sunday’s New York Times about New York City’s efforts to improve school food. The story focused on PS 56 , a school that serves low-income kids in Brooklyn.
