Do any of you nebulize morphine at your hospital?
I am a bit irritated at how my hospital goes about this. We are not allowed to get morphine out of the pyxis, but have orders for nebulized treatments. We have to get the nurse to get it for us. I don't understand why we cannot be trusted to remove morphine from the pyxis, but are still

Great article in the NY Times reviewing reseach regarding the possible benefits of being administered morphine or other opiates promptly after a traumatic event... treatment with morphine cut in half the chances that troops would develop symptoms of post-traumatic stress later on. Other opiates are likely to have similar effects, experts said

The patch starts at 25mcg and of course that is what I was started on. It was too much for my body to handle after three weeks of continuous morphine going into by body. I talked about how good I felt on the morphine patch and how it turned on me. Well, I am happy to annouce the patch comes in a lower dose of 12mcg…it just came on the market

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Morphine Sulfate Oral Solution for the relief of moderate to severe, acute and chronic pain in opioid-tolerant patients. This medicine will be available in 100 milligrams per 5 mL or 20 milligrams per 1 mL.
This is the only FDA approved morphine sulfate oral solution available
