Is this a usual thing for Congress... pushed through Congress , and because of the special interest groups getting involved in getting their "pork" put into the bill, the good bills get vetoed .

The House of Representatives today approved the Senate version of a bill to give the FDA broad authority to regulate tobacco products. The 307-97 vote sends the bill to President Obama for signature. Speaking from the White House, Obama said he will sign it, adding that broad bipartisan passage of the bill "truly defines a change in Washington."

An article in Government Health IT (a HIMSS publication) announced that the healthcare IT stimulus package passed through Congress intact and is in route to the House... and incentives. What is extra special about this news is the fact that the $20 billion health IT funding package remained intact.
