I still have to wait for the definitive tests and the full report to be sure, but that was good news. It was a long day, even longer than yesterday, and I spent about 3 hours lying in the ultrasound room while doctors tried to get a sample from the enlarged nodes. There w ... Read on »

Infection and Neck Surgery by robin Patient Expert Posted Fri 11 Feb 2011 10:11am It all started on Tuesday, January 18th in the afternoon. I had been out doing errands for about 5 hours and when I returned home I started to feel that familiar ache and fatigue and my neck began to feel sore; as if one of my lymph nodes was beginning to swell. By the next morning, the right side of my neck was huge and all I wanted to do was l ... Read on »
The Scariest Words Revisited by Ron Sparks Posted Sat 30 Jul 2011 11:36am When I first learned I had cancer, I started this blog.  It has garnered enormous interest, tens of thousands of views, and many cancer fighters have expressed interest and gratitude for it. I was re-reading my blog today and realized that there are a lot of blanks in the diary – I left out things that I didn’t understand, or were afraid to ... Read on »
small stupid things by Joan H. Patient Expert Posted Tue 09 May 2006 12:00am 1) I haven't heard the final report on my biopsy yet. I called over to Dr. O's office, and his assistant told me it had just come in today. The bottom line read was "negative for metastic cancer" or something like that, but I want to read the whole report! I'm still not convinced it was a great sample. I faxed over a records r ... Another Hospital stay but Ava has her new Bionic Ears! by Amy D. Posted Thu 23 Apr 2009 6:20pm Hello friends! I am late in writing this as we just got home from the hospital yesterday. Last week, I noticed a lump on the side of Ava's neck. I was told to bring her to the hospital at the same time she picks up her equipment as the clinic is just down the hall from the audiologist's office. Turns out Ava develop ... Read on »
also noted by Joan H. Patient Expert Posted Tue 11 Jul 2006 12:00am That lump on the right side of my neck, the one that came back with a negative biopsy? It's as hard as a rock and killing me, and it's definitely bigger. I feel like someone transplanted a large marble into the side of my neck. I can feel it when I swallow, which is weird -- I'm used to having a lumpy sensation lower down ... Read on »
Halloween Theme: Fat Necrosis (dress up as the fatty lump in Brandy's chest for Halloween!) by Brandy W. Patient Expert Posted Tue 07 Oct 2008 7:08pm Best news ever: FAT NECROSIS! Biopsy is clear. It took them a goddamn while to get back to me, and I have my suspicions that the only reason the doc called was because she read this article in the Straight about me: Cancer Affects Young Adults. She called me and said, "Did my secretary call you?" "Um, nope." [I had called and left 2 message wi ... Read on »
