the language used to report findings...and it is working quite well (see: Nomenclature and Classification of Lumbar Disc Pathology ).
But when it comes to other spinal pathologies, such as Spondylosis, sometimes it' s hard to figure out what the doctor that wrote the report means.

Osteoarthritis, otherwise known as Spondylosis, is one of the most common arthritis of the spine.
This is a general term for degenerative disc disease, fractured... of the pain.
Spinal Stenosis is different from Spondylosis as this refers to a specific condition affecting the spaces between the vertebrae.
This causes a narrowing of the spine

Basically, cervical spondylosis is another name for osteoarthritis of the neck, degenerative disc disease, or abnormal wear and tear of the spinal discs, spinal bones, ligaments... mechanical forces can result in disc degeneration, spinal stenosis, and even disc herniations. Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease is not really a disease...but rather a term used to describe abnormal wear and tear of a spinal disc in the lumbar spine. At lease that's......the lumbar discs that are most susceptible to degenerative disc disease are L4-5 and L5-S1...the last two inter-vertebral discs in the spine.
