Mostly at night I am awaken by severe pain in my hip that goes down my leg when my bladder is full. I had back surgery but this pain in entirly different. I have a hard time walking to the restroom and then a few minutes after I have gone to the bathroom the pain subsides. Does anyone know what this is and why it happens?

This is the third day in a row when the pain in my right hip - actually it's at the top of my right thigh - has been significant. I am having trouble getting in and out of my car, I had trouble moving my leg up and down in a pedi-chair yesterday, and just walking can be so sharply painful.

I would challenge us all to critically exam our patients to see what lower extremities alignments (pes planus/cavus, leg length discrepancies, tibial/femoral rotation, genu valgum/varus/recurvatum, etc.) have an immediate impact

You’re certainly not alone. The cause may be bursitis and this can occur either with the hip/leg on top, or the one that is pressured against the mattress. Hip bursitis... and perhaps over-production of fluid (swelling). Chronic bursitis actually presents with dryness, lack of fluid and poor lubrication for movement of tendons.

Last winter I struggled with hip pain when I ran on the treadmill, but all the problems cleared up when the weather was nice and I was back to running outside.
Yesterday... three, that nagging hip pain was back.

Hold your middle and index fingers against two points located at the centre of each buttock. Apply firm pressure for at least a minute. Release, then press again for a minute. This should reduce hip pain and joint stiffness.
