BREAKING NEWS!!!! My room-mate, who is still incontrovertibly Japanese, has just admitted that “shiso leaves” are, in fact, “sesame leaves”!!! This is news because it is the first time that she has copped to that fact, despite my many queries to the effect.

Serves: 3 - 4
You will need
75 g tur dal
2 cups ( 400 ml ) water
1/2 teaspoon oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

Holes in broad bean leaves are often the result of thrip damage.

The thrips get right into the growing centre & the thrip larvae damage the minute, developing leaves. As these leaves grow, they are distorted & the damaged part of the leaf becomes a hole - which gets bigger as the leaf grows.
