But for the newbie triathlete, the news is that you' ll now be able to qualify for a full and sold out North American Ironman race at certain Ironman 70.3 races.

It looks like "Ford Ironman St. George" will be the name of the new Ironman

The busy triathlete beavers at Slowtwitch.com have dug up the registration page for the New Ironman in Utah that we reported on last week.
According to the Active.com registration page the race will be called "Ford Ironman St. George"

Once upon a time the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) was a small company owned by a Florida eye doctor.
Besides the Ironman Kona World Championships, there was an Ironman race in New Zealand, one in Canada and a handful of races in North America, with a few more starting up in the rest of the world.
There was no 70.3 series

You may know him as Macca.
You may also know that he finished just off the podium in 4th place this year at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii... be surprised that the top professionals suffer the identical pain, problems, and despair that amatuer athletes face during an Ironman race.

Scheduled for Saturday, September 4, 2011, Ironman 70.3 Ireland will take place in and around the scenic city of Galway, with a spectacular finish in Eyre Square. The inaugural race will mark the first Ironman event in Ireland, allocating 35 qualifying slots for the Foster Grant IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Florida.
