Is inflammatoryboweldisease (IBD) the same thing as IrritableBowelSyndrome (IBS)?
No. Inflammatoryboweldisease, including UC and CD, is different from irritablebowelsyndrome (IBS). Unlike IBD, IBS does not cause inflammation, ulcers or other damage to the bowel. Instead, IBS is a much less serious problem called a functional disorder

else fully investigated which can mean that thousands of patients labelled as “IBS, IrritableBowelDisease” sufferers could actually be suffering from “IBD, InflammatoryBowel... had an attack of IBS, her arthritis went worse”?
The Doctors reply was that the symptoms could be a sign of “inflammatoryboweldisease” a condition which is linked

impact for InflammatoryBowelDisease (IBD, also known as Crohn's and Colitis). Here is a recently published study. So I think it is great to see more research about IBD, but we should not ignore what is already known.
Btw, IBD usually starts as IrritableBowelSyndromes (IBS) which can be reversed.

AN interesting article from a recent study that connects IBD patients to higher risk of Depression like symptoms (anxiety, panic attacks, etc..) There is a continual struggle to raise awareness of ulcerative colitis.
Did you know that in a recent survey only 41% were are aware of colitis whilst if the term “IBD” is used that figure increases to 64%. When asked to state a symptom of IBD, only 30% were able to name diarrhoea, 29% abdominal pain.
