process, even though it sounds similar to the "hydrogenation" we warn against. You'll see it primarily referring to additives such as hydrolyzed soy protein, which are harmless and used in such small quantities that they are not a significant factor in your diet.
Hydrogenation is the addition of hydrogen atoms in place of the double bonds between carbon

All runners know the importance of drinking sufficient water to keep ones body hydrogenated. Well, I must have the world's greatest body, because I'm very well hydrogenated -- over a gallon of water in each leg! I start therapy on Thursday for the swelling in my feet and legs.

I recently saw an ingredient called "hydrogenated starch."
What is it?
Is avoidance prudent?

(Location withheld)
Let me guess -- you saw hydrogenated starch as an ingredient in a sugar-free product?
Althrough hydrogenation always conjures up thoughts of unhealthy fats, that same process is rather harmless when applied

I admit, I have very strong feelings about margarine, and they’re all negative. Margarine/shortening is hydrogenated oil plus yellow dye. Hydrogenation occurs when the oil is forced to bond with the water, thus becoming semi-solid..and far more stable than the original fluid oil, which is why the food industry uses hydrogenated oil so extensively

Burned or used in fuel cells, hydrogen is an appealing option for powering future automobiles. This nontoxic gas could serve as a pollution-free energy carrier for machines of many kinds. When it burns, it releases no carbon .dioxide, a potent greenhouse gas.
And if hydrogen is fed into a fuel cell stack a battery like device that generates

Nickel-Hydrogen Batteries?
by

Move over nickel-hydride, your days are done. Now, it’s nickel-hydrogen instead. This is an interesting marrying of the battery-electric vehicle (BEV, or just electric vehicle) idea and the hydrogen fuel-cell (HFC or FCV for fuel cell vehicle) concept. Both are, if you read the automotive press, vying for ownership of the alternative fuel
