Wear hiking boots. Hiking boots have more support and are usually waterproof. Your feet and ankles will thank you.
Wear sunglasses. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun and wind.

My current multi-day hikinggear is posted here – best hike editor – gear 2007. Little has changed since then.
I’ve switched to the new Therm-a-Rest NeoAir mattress.
I like MSR, Granite Gear, JetBoil … but am not loyal to particular brands, in general.
My favourite gear shop is Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada. MEC

expensive European hikinggear

Before I traveled in Europe, I vaguely thought of their gear as … nice. Way overpriced. Gaudy. And sometimes completely goofy. (Especially the tents.)
Then I toured... gear in Canada from Mountain Equipment Co-op. Or check prices on Amazon.com and comparison shop in the USA.
Europeans will get sometimes twices the value for their Euro currency

Comunities Entrance fees
Hot water every morning and evening for washing purposes (while hiking)
Cook and Cooking equipment
Excellent Meals (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
food... which is excellent for the altitude
We supply boiled water to fill your water bottle all the time,(while hiking) if you may need more, please request it with enough time ahead
