Look at the way those hands cup that melon tenderly, the fingernails filled with sweet, rich earth you can almost smell. I love that photo. It reminds me of that day... the primal reaction we as humans experience when we cup dirt in our hands. Try it. Smell it. Feel it.

I keep up my acupuncture appointments once a week because they bring me such relief. Yesterday I went to my acupuncturist with the usual complaints: anxiety, aches, pains, fatigue, terrible back pain, and I told her I felt like I was getting a cold. to touch, I was relieved. But I knew it soon swell up badly and needed quick treatment.
I rode home, and got out my cups, acupuncture needles, and the all too valuable herbal anti... still have to rebuild some of the strength, but thanks to the cupping and acupuncture, my rehabilitation will be only a few weeks, rather than a couple of months.

Our hands can be used to harm, to heal, to love, to punish, to communicate, to nurture, or to work. As a doula, my hands are skilled in relief and respite. As an educator, my hands are used to communicate and to demonstrate. As a midwife, my hands will be used to catch and console.
