21 earlier, and aborted. The idea in the medical community was: we gave you a chance to abort, if you didn't take it, tough, we're not interested in a cure for Down syndrome... Down syndrome to see where the problems are in the nerve connections in the brain which lead to memory problems, and developing drugs that can help fix the problem. People

in cognitive delays, is caused by having an extra copy of a particular chromosome. Currently, pregnant women get blood tests and ultrasound to find out if the fetus is at risk for Down...
Here's yet more research on ways to prenatally detect Down syndrome. Just to add to the 92%+ abortion rate of prenatally diagnosed babies with Down syndrome.

This past weekend my mom and I took the boys to a Whitecaps baseball game. We had been given tickets to go to the game by the West Michigan Down syndrome... away feeling quite sad. Washington Post reports that a study of more than 38,000 U.S. women found a screening method, which combines a blood test with an ultrasound exam, can pinpoint many fetuses with the common genetic disorder 11 weeks after conception. Until now, more invasive diagnostic testing (amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling, or CVS) was routinely offered to women starting at age 35. Age is no longer to be used as a cutoff for these tests; and ACOG anticipates that the availability of ultrasound testing will help decrease the use
