Ashley had an appointment with her neurologist yesterday. And unlike many of our specialist appointments, we didn’t have to wait long. In fact, we were the only people in the waiting room. Once in the exam room, Ashley was happy and quite thrilled that I kept giving her sparkly hand lotion. The doctor and I were able to talk, and plan for As ...

Then she had one. Right there. Just melted down off ...

I made it through my 16th surgery about 6 weeks ago. I had a post-op check today; it was originally 2 weeks ago but they said I hadn't made enough progress and made me come again this time. Thankfully two weeks made the difference though! My incision is behaving well, contrary to what Ehlers-Danlos would like for it to do.
My seizures over the ...

Do you know what to do if you witness someone having a seizure? Well here are some tips that I've learned since my epilepsy diagnosis. Keep in mind that I am by no means a specialist nor do I play one on the internet. This is information I have been given by my doctors and from The Cleveland Clinic's Guide to Epilepsy.
Seizures are pretty c ...

I'm just going to go ahead and brag a bit, I feel pretty optimistic (possibly a tad over-optimistic) yet very realistic, that I have a good grasp on what to expect as the mommy of a 'lil miracle man living with hydranencephaly! Ok, that said...let me also admit one crucial aspect that just scares the buh-jesus outta me for one reason or another.. ...
