For the International Day of Disabled Persons 2010, on December 3, what I’d like to see in this country, given that this day is sponsored by the UN, is for the UN to get off its collective butt and take a very close look at the way chronically sick and disabled people in the UK are being mistreated and demonised by our own government – FFS

Today is our day.
The International Day of Disabled Persons , established by the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons increases awareness of disability issues and promotes integration, equal opportunity and participation of disabled persons in society. Sounds good to me.

Although disabled people are visible in every area of society, most people are uncertain of how to treat them. Afraid of acting inappropriately or looking foolish..., along with some simple guidelines of what to do, and what not to do.

people who don’t look like the stereotype we have of a disabled person?
There are many people with invisible disabilities. These are the people who look like everyone else... looks ‘normal’ sits in them they will be worried in case an obviously disabled person gets on the bus/train. When they are shopping the queue may be only a few people

I know, I know, it's been a long time. I'll be back regularly eventually, I'm sure. Life has just been crazybusy lately, that's all.
I'm really just posting today to make sure everyone knows that today is the International Day of the Disabled Person. One of my co-workers ran our agency's booth at a trade show for it today.
