I tend to think of "exotic" biomarkers as relevant mainly for the screening and diagnosis of malignant neoplasms. I've been doing some research on COPD.
It seems to be common in many senior hospice clients.
Symptoms (from PubMedHealth)
Cough with mucus
Shortness of breath (dyspnea) that gets worse with mild activity
Fatigue
Frequent respiratory infections
Wheezing
Since the symptoms of COPD develop slowly, some people may be unaware that they are sick.
