The June 2007 issue of Chest reported more than half of the patients with advanced COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease... that symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are an important factor associated with exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)."

for a f/u and was told I have COPD-Emphysema, he ordered oxygen (delivered and set-up today, actually I'm using it right now) and Respiratory Rehabilitation which I will start this coming week hopefully.
All this and I'm not quite 54 years old - DAMN!!!!
Not everyone that smokes will get COPD (although most will get at least a mild form) or worse yet

The June 2007 issue of Chest reports 57% of "advanced" COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) patients tested positive for GERD. Only 1/4 of this group of 42 patients had symptoms of heartburn or indigestion. "Few" were on GERD therapy when surveyed for this study.
I would hope this could help lead the way for more scientific study
