don’t care about you or your hearing aids, they are too busy wrapped up in their own stuff and worrying about their own problems. There’s no neon sign.

to find my way in the world as a late deafened adult. I became aware of my hearing loss at the age of 40. Presbycusis (prez-bee-KYOO-sis) is the medical term for age-related hearing loss. Like grey hair, it comes on gradually and a lucky few manage to squeak by without loosing their hearing at all. For instance, if your older family members don’t suffering from hearing loss, the chances are better for you to keep your own hearing sharp.

'Hear to Meet' people with hearing loss

RNID’s new 'Hear to Meet' club is meeting at the Ivy Leaf Club, 1 Gracious Street, Whittlesey between 10am – 11.30am on Tuesday 14 September 2010. The event will give people who are deaf or hard of hearing the opportunity to relax, socialise and share their experiences of hearing loss over a tea or coffee.
