We went to my not so favorite local grocery chain to do some basic shopping yesterday, and made an amazingly disturbing discovery. healthy version:
1 cup low fat milk
1 TBL Agave syrup (or honey) (if your kids are used to Nesquik or other sweeter cocoas, you may want to use 2 TBL
2 TBL cocoapowder (the 100% cocoapowder)
Mix together over the stove, or in the microwave until warm and dissolved.

¼ teaspoon sugar-free vanilla extract
Combine the cocoa with a small amount of the water and mix to a smooth paste in a microwave-safe cup or a small saucepan. Stir in the rest... powder or sprinkle with orange zest, if desired.

oz. bittersweet chocolate
1/2 cup cocoapowder
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup almond butter
1 tsp almond extract
2 cups old fashion rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped nuts (I used almonds and pecans)

an extra-thick cocoa.
This will make two servings of cocoa.
ingredients
1/2 c. water
2 T. sucanat or other dry sweetener
3 T. pure cocoapowder (I use Equal Exchange... and add the cocoapowder and cinnamon. Whisk constantly for about 3 minutes.
2. Lower the heat and whisk in the soymilk and oil. Heat through, but do not boil.
