I had not heard of this condition before, but it so turns out that calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate disease (CPPD), or Crystal Deposition Disease and Chondrocalcinosis as it is also referred to, is a disease where calcium deposits lead to inflammation of the joint and its surrounding tissue.
