is the second most common cause of dementia after Alzheimer disease? Her answer was that if you are talking about a primary neurodegenerative disease, it’s Dementia with Lewy Bodies... and let the neurologist make the call as to whether or not the patient’s dementia is due to a vascular cause.

A research study reported in the Archives of Neurology has suggested that obesity causes greater risk for dementia. The work was done at the Karolinska Institute... such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol at midlife were present along with obesity, the risk of dementia was six times higher than in people having none of the risk factors. Dementia is caused by specific, identifiable diseases
Diagnosis is important to identify the dementia’s that are treatable

It seems that vegetarians are screwed on multiple levels, they get called hippies by me AND they might be at an increased risk of dementia in old age. The study recently... that people who ate tofu at least once a day (which is classified as high consumption) had a statistically higher chance of showing dementia.
