My mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 5/2008 has been receiving chemo treatments since last May. Not about an upcoming event, but just plain old cold feet when I run! Brrr. Yesterday my poor husband had a case of the “man-cold” and so he stayed home sick from work. This generally had no effect on my day (except for the fact that it gave me a third “baby” to wipe noses and make meals for!) but it did have one huge benefit – I got to take ...

Many of life's decisions cause us to have second thoughts.
For example, a friend of mine is starting her own business. She's knee-deep in the process right now - juggling the initial costs of incorporating, marketing, accounting, legal, etc. She's done all the research and knows that her new venture is worth the investment of both her time and ...

My cold feet were back last night. I woke up with frost bitten toes and then couldn't warm them up how ever many layers of quilt I trapped them in. Foreigner (Cold as Ice) got stuck in my head and sleep slipped away til dawn was up. We were down to one offspring thanks to a sleep over party of yesterdays "best friend", tomorrows "I hate her" and ...

Second Sock Syndrome – 13 Feb , a photo by flissy666 on Flickr.
So I’ve been reading on blogs and Twitter about people getting cold feet about Fitbloggin – people thinking about not going, or deciding not to go, or feeling uber nervous about going.
I can relate.
In spite of my INTENSE level of excitement, there’s a little-to-med ...

Even when you know that you are making the right decision, you can still get cold feet while you are waiting for the consequences of said decision to kick in.
That's where I am at right this moment.
There are five days until my next doctor's visit with my hepatologist and I am freaking out because this is THE big visit where we ta ...

Yesterday Jenny and I went for another bike ride over to Snohomish. This time we planned on adding some additional mileage and hills to our ride for training purposes. This week it’s been cold and dry in our area so extra layers have been in order. As we got ready for the ride I put on enough layers for a ride in the upper 30 degree range, pum ...

Adelay and I were sitting at the kitchen table just now, me reading my library book and drinking coffee and she, oh scorner of books, working on a dot-to-dot, biting her tongue in concentration. After awhile I heard her sigh heavily, and asked her what was wrong.
"My feet are really cold!" she said crossly. "It's making me freezing!"
"We ...

Today has been long, but amazing.
The day started bright and early when my brother Danny drove me to the airport at 3:30 AM. As he said, you know it’s early when Wawa isn’t making breakfast sandwiches yet.
The flight back to Chicago was freezing but uneventful. I pulled a rookie move and forgot a pair of socks for the plane. T ...
