Aol Health features a story about Trista Lathern, a 24-year-old woman in Texas who claimed she had breast cancer.
At least $10,000 was raised to help Trista Lathern after she announced she was battling breast cancer. But investigators say it was all a scam and that she planned to use the money to get breast implants.

A recent Canadian study long term follow-up (see here ) confirms prior observations that women with breast implants who go on to develop breast cancer have similar outcomes... would lead to delayed breast cancer diagnosis and worse outcomes). Along a similar vein, women with implants actually have a much lower (~ 40% lower I think) rate of breast cancer

Women who consider breast implants should find enough information before making decision. My friend and I discover some risks and side effects of breast implants or augmentation from implantsbreasts.net which I think we should expand our knowledge today before undergoing the procedure that will change us forever.

Ten years ago, I made a decision to follow up my mastectomies with silicone breast implants . I was making my decision “back in the day” when insurance companies...-integrated breast implants into my body and life with a pair of saline implants. The BBC reports on a National Cancer Institute study of 3486 Swedish women over an average of 18 years followup. There is no increased incidence of breast cancer in women with breast implants.
