MSNBC has an article by Amanda Chan on the recent "autism" brainscansBrainscan 'best thing so far' for detecting autism . The article cautions that the fMRI tests used... autistic persons as being representative of autism generally are inaccurate and potentially misleading.

Brainscan skepticism

I've had a gnawing fear that the brainscan research of the last two decades that has been used to support the disease model will be discredited by some new innovation in technology, or the realization that everything lights up the brain like the scans we're frequently shown. (I don't believe this, but I worry about it from time to time.)

his BrainScan for a News Story. ‘These images provide us with the best picture yet of nothing much going on inside the human head. I particularly like the way different regions of the brain light up for no apparent reason. It’s so cool.’

Monday morning May 27, 1974 at the BaptistHospital, I was given a CT (computerized tomography) BrainScan to determine whether I did, indeed, have a tumor. The scan showed I did… a large frontal lobe tumor on the left side of my head. The shock treatments had been so unnecessary! So unneeded!
