When I reported on this study, several readers responded by quoting other studies that showed competitive cyclists have lower bone mineral density... bones to increase fracture risk. Bone density is associated with bone strength, but does not measure it. The only way to measure bone strength is to see how much force it takes

This is why I have so many women calling now who have been on the bone drugs for a year or five years, who had higher Dexa numbers... it here.
For people in a hurry the most interesting part is that bone density still has not been proven to have much to do with bone fractures. People find this hard to believe

The first thing to understand is the reason we might be interested in bone density. We are interested in it to the degree it predicts bone strength, and we... and painful, but are not as life-limiting and life threatening as hip fractures.
