51.94 seconds is such a terribly short amount of time in anybody' s life
but for American swimmer Aaron Peirsol it' s probably the most important

Tips for swimming the Backstroke

Freestyle – Is the fastest and most efficient swimming technique
Backstroke – Is the only stroke that is swum on the back, the swimmer looking up
Butterfly – Is powerful, graceful and fast

Let's start by saying this...it's been a long 9 weeks since I've been in the pool. By the end of the first 100 my body was already tired. And I had 2100 more to go. :) There were one arm drills, which I suck at (especially on my left side). There was a lot of pulling. Dude, seriously, my arms are weak. There was backstroking, which I am better

Next was backstroke 50's on 45. As usual, the triathletes in the pool were given a bit of leeway, and could swim freestyle instead of backstroke...45 seconds....hmmm....Swimming... backstroke indefinitely on that interval.....So, I have a new goal....Be able to swim freestyle at least as fast as they can swim backstroke......

From all outward appearances, Natalie Coughlin was a picture of tranquillity and composure as she strode to the starting blocks for Tuesday night's 100-meter backstroke... Peirsol broke his own world record in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 52.89, and former Cal star Jessica Hardy qualified for the Olympics by winning the 100 breaststroke.

480 - 3 x 2 minute timed swims (155 + 5 recovery) 1:00 ri every 4th 25 do backstroke
400 - 4 x 1 minute timed swims (85 + 15 recover) 1:00 ri every 4th 25 do backstroke
250 - 5 x :30 sec timed swims (got 50 yards exactly) 1:00 ri
