Last week two diligent readers alerted me to the same article ostensibly about Attachment Parenting, a blog post by a mommy blogger on The Stir over at Cafemom.com who'd... between the LA Times and The Stir the study got misconstrued.
How? Well the study was about attachment (i.e. infant-mother bonding) but not Attachment Parenting. Most people

Before I became a mum I'd never heard of attachment parenting and it was only after my third child was born that I realised I'd instinctively been practising much of what was involved in it!

Yesterday was the first time I came across the term "Attachment Parenting". Immediately the image of my children clinging onto my legs wailing "don't leave me" came to my mind. I wondered, do we really want our children to be MORE attached to us?

October is Attachment Parenting month. Now, what does it mean, exactly, to attachment parent? Well, I’m sure if you ask 10 different people, you will get 10 different answers. To me, attachment parenting means, in general, to respect my child and be available - emotionally and physically - to them all (or 99 percent) of the time.
