the 'paramedic hotline' rings - as it does when an EMS crew is inbound and choose to use a phone to patch in rather than the radio. I answer, "Emergency Department, this is Erica, can I help you?"
On the other end, a voice I recognize: "Um, yeah, I just called to say hi, and that the charge nurse is hot." Click.

bad anymore. Instead, it was replaced by a flood of anger, a desire to reach through the phone and smack her. I hung up and called two other hot lines. Both told me I needed... didn’t want my experience to pathologized, erased, or negated with positive thinking BS.

With great excitement the Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse has helped spread the good news. The Minister announced this last June, 2008. With funding from Ontario's Trillium Foundation, the plan is to have a hotline in place 24/7, in 150 languages. I’m not sure this was designed to be just a back pain hotline, but Intermountain Healthcare ran a unique outreach program and put consumers in touch with Physical Therapists via hotline. Anyone with questions could call in and speak to an expert. Very nice, and deserving of this piece of good press.
