Occasionally, patients present to the ED with new onset, rate-controlled atrial fibrillation. It's an incidental finding. Do you have to anticoagulate these patients because of the risk for a stroke?

A study by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs found that home anticoagulation monitoring of patients on warfarin (Coumadin) was as effective as testing at the hospital... now covers home testing, as do many insurance companies.
