of neuropathy on d4T and 3TC. Needs to go on inhaled steroids (preferably fluticasone) to help manage increasingly refractory asthma.
35 year old woman, on ABC/FTC, FPV/r BID — doing ok... worsening on 3TC. So he went back on EFV + LPV/r, and the neuropathy returned to baseline over a month or so.
But — since he still needed the inhaled steroids for asthma treatment

The alphabet soup that characterizes HIV therapeutics has always been one of its quirky challenges — for example, who could possibly know that 3TC, CBV, TZV, EPZ, and LAM all refer to drugs that are (or contain) lamivudine?
This drives our ID fellows nuts, and is certainly a strong deterrent to non-HIV specialists to learning the field.

), nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTI, AZT, 3TC, Tnofovir, D4T), non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTI, Efavirenz, Nevirapine), integrase inhibitors... that have therapeutic value, such as 3TC, are available. However 3TC does not inhibit XMRV replication.
It is not known if treatment with AZT will effect either prostate cancer

UAW: Several studies looking at liver, fat, peripheral..., lamivudine) and the "purines", such as DDI (didanosine). Uridine itself is also a pyrimidine and thus does not block vicious circles caused by purines at the mitochondrial gamma

in the early 1990s. Many considered aggressive switching as the best practice at the time, and the patients quickly switched to each new product like DDI and 3TC.
By the 1996 debut... like AZT or 3TC as stopgaps to stabilize patients until two or three novel drugs can be combined in an all-new cocktail.

dropping and discussing with my doctor that maybe the change needed to be done. So we decided to switch from the original combination of AZT, 3TC and Crixivan to ddI, d4T and Sustiva
